I've seen these kids sometimes on TikTok and I found it a bit strange. They looked chassidish, but more like Purim chassidish... It was off to see peyos with a giant picture of the Lubavitcher Rebbe instead of something else and I met and I know chassidishe mummies from Antwerp, London, Manchester who are on WhatsApp/Instagram but no way they will expose their kids to that.

And the worst is, they look Jewish and are posing as Jews antisemites don't see a difference and don't care if they were Jews according to halacha.

Even in countries where laws are for more stringent for foster care it is well known that foster kids slip between the cracks.
I believe there's a lack of foster families in all counties in the western world.
Kids that are from dysfunctional homes and that very few wants to take care of. It's so sad.

All of those things are true in the US as well. The problems are elsewhere.

If I had to guess - overwhelming caseloads are a big issue. It makes it hard for the people who are in charge of supervision to adequately look at each and every family.

There also seems to have been a lack of adequate investigation/communication in everything involving the police. Yes, they questioned the kids in the home, but the kids were so isolated for so long, there need to be special procedures in place for that kind of thing.

Gosh this is crazy. I came across their account on tik tok a few years ago and immediately felt something was very wrong. I wish there's some way we can help these poor children

For two reasons. One, the judges would be more wary to incriminate him, bc they would be afraid of the whole Jewish world coming to his defense and screaming anti semitism. Two, bc no one would suspect that this very very religious looking family is a pedo den.

Ironically, the publicity and faux Judaism is what made it way more suspicious, had he pretended to be a religious Christian.

I'm surprised his own family didnt turn him in. His siblings, cousins etc all know he is a complete hoax; the 2 youngest ones are his nephews. I dont understand how they didnt raise an outcry.

They know a lot about judaism by reading and studying. some of the older boys actually did a homeschool program in Judaism. The oldest is particularly learned; he once put up a video of baking challah, and he took challah and said the bracha perfectly under his breath, without even a siddur. I often wonder if the oldest 2 arent jewish. Who knows.

I'm amazed that what the oldest 3 didnt manage to do - blow the whistle hard enough to get jeffrey arrested - Shmariyahu managed to do. He is extremely smart, shrewd, and has his wits about. Jeffrey was angry at him a lot, bc he kept hinting to ppl about the abuse, and kept making escape plans.

I am SO HAPPY they are finally out of there.

Hopefully we'll have new information on the 2/23 hearing.

Anyone else think it’s bigger than just him? He had a lawyer and psychiatrist covering for him. Maybe someone in cps too. Smells like a pedophile ring to me. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was filming and selling it. I hope they look into all those people and search for p-rn.

They didn’t have a choice. And they might not know what being a real Jew is. They were broken kids from the foster system and he medicated all of them.

Funny story. I once lived in a very small town. There were two men in the back of the shul who looked like they googled "orthodox Jew" and dressed like whatever popped up. They got the nuance of the hats wrong, etc. And our shul was MO and not a vacation spot, so anyone coming in with a black hat was already suspect. The rabbi called me over (I worked for the shul) and pointed them out to me and asked me to find out more about them. So, I went over and shmoozed with them and dropped a bunch of heimish terms that someone in a black hat should know, like cholent. They were missionaries, and not very good ones. They gave it away quickly, and we got them out.

But this family kept to themselves, so anyone who saw them on Tiktok (like me) and knew they were fake just by the look of them, most likely felt like I did - they are isolated and not bothering anyone. So I can see how they would not get on people's radar.

Considering they came up around the same time the whole Josh Duggar thing became a known thing... I can see how they would be missed.

Think there is a ring of truth here. How I witness especially the American Jewish world reacting on antisemitism is pretty harsh. There are lots of frum antisemitism advocates, even things that from my European perspective are not antisemitism according to American advocacies the smallest things are almost considered a razzia. I'm exaggerating though but there are things that I only read here from a more American perspective which is not even close to the UK/European narrative. It is even that in The Netherlands antisemitism advocacy is more a thing for the secular, reform, and conservative Jews or Israelis who are not frum plus Xtians.

Plus, I totally can understand that a far Xtian place who loves Israel and Jews are having this man on a pedestal and throw money at this person. That is what some of xtians do.

Some Xtians are really happy to have a Jew out of the open. And as Watergirl said there are people who dress up wrongly as Jews. Missionaries or not. They are there I think the family cut ties with them apperently...
Also never forget dressing as a devout religious person helps, everyone will distrust a hobo, or someone who does 'strange' out of the open. How do you think there was so much s-xual abuse in the Roman Catholic church?
