Does your family have any unique words you use for common things too?
ie. in my family, my older DS and I love coffee, and for no reason other than it was in the media years ago, refer to it as "covfefe"
Also, one of my younger kids once mistakenly referred to burritos as burrotis, so we call them that now.

I'll add back my post now that I can go anon
Chicken thighs are called hamentaschen in my family (because of their triangular shape)

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. Why on earth did you use an anon-disabled forum?

Because it’s chit chat and no other topic made sense. I also didn’t think it was going to be that controversial. Lol

I have a lot, but they're all too identifying. I'm not posting on a non-anon thread 😂

Boo-boo fleisch for cold cuts.
Named that way by my little kids due to the darker spots on them resembling boo-boos....

Yup, not posting unless I can do so anonymously! 😆
There’s an official “study of linguistics” word for this, btw: a familect is a set of invented words or phrases with meanings understood within members of a family or other small intimate group

That's so cool!
Growing up, in my home some of ours were:
1. Booper (the key fob for the car named because it made such a noise when you locked or unlocked the car)
2. Puter (for computer, because, why not drop a syllable, I suppose?)
3. Catfood bug (a centipede because I once found one halfway up the basement wall behind the clothes dryer with a piece of dry cat food, ostensibly trying to eat it....my father was not enthused about having to neutralize it.)

Flumjo- the bottom piece of a zipper that’s supposed to be in the skirt that sometimes will stick out if the skirt is torn…
Chitchka first ch is pronounced with a ches sound. Define: to steal something small

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a Forum Topic that makes sense that may be amother enabled? then, I can ask the mods if they'll move...
ETA Looks like the upper tier topic "Social Scene" is amother enabled. I'll report my post and ask them to move it if they think it's appropriate.

When I said, "I have to stay home on this day, I have stuff to take care of", my teen DD who was home said, "aww, my favorite nickname!" I said, "okay, you now have dubbed yourself", and henceforth, she is known to the family as "Stuff".
