Trench mouth is an acute, necrotizing (causing tissue death), ulcerating (causing open sores) form of gingivitis. It causes pain in the affected gums. Fever and fatigue are usually present also. Trench mouth, also known as Vincent's disease, is a complication of mild cases of gingivitis. Frequently, poor oral hygiene is the main cause. Stress, an unbalanced diet, or lack of sleep are frequent cofactors in the development of trench mouth. This form of periodontal disease is more common in people who smoke. The term "trench mouth" was created in World War I, when the disease was common in soldiers who lived in the trenches. Symptoms of trench mouth appear suddenly. The initial symptoms include painful gums and foul breath. Gum tissue between teeth becomes infected and dies, and starts to disappear. Often, what appears to be remaining gum is dead tissue. Usually, the gums bleed easily, especially when chewing. The pain can increase to the point where eating and swallowing become difficult. Inflammation or infection from trench mouth can spread to nearby tissues of the face and neck.

ahh shame ( as we say in south africa)... to tell you the truth I have no idea what to do for it..but wish him well and I hope it gets better soon.
depends in his age...but
maybe let him do things that could distract him from the pain, like having a bubble bath, watching a video, reading a book..

honestly I never even heard of it before, but I think if you wash out his mouth everyday with an antiseptic like hydrogen peroxide, or even salt water, it could help with the healing.

His dentist told us to use Glyoxide rinse (he hates it)

The most annoing thing is that we brush & floss him every day!!!!

"Magic Mouthwash"--1 teaspoon benadryl plus 1 teaspoon maalox, and use a q-tip to spread it on the areas that hurt. It won't make it better any faster, but will help numb the area so he can eat.

alot of teething products for babies are also used for sore ulcers or mouth problems just to numb the pain.

everybody, thanks so mcuch for advice!!
B'H, it's over - the salt water did the trick!!!
PS I would be extrememly careful w/ teething products & use them only when there is absolutely no other choice, as they have alcohol in them
