The father may be the 'bad guy' but the mother is emotionally abusive. Poor guy (and poor girl).

I don’t believe he actually has to be the bad guy.
Manipulative parents sometimes exaggerate stories or lie to seem like the victim.

It bothered me how Miri backed down so quickly. She has a right to be upset and suspicious. He acts like the injured party.

How does Aryeh’s mother not realize she is horrible it’s just scares me whenever I see crazy people think they are normal (like my mother and some of my sisters) sometimes I wonder maybe I’m crazy and don’t realize it! Although I do speak to das Torah every step of the way but still it’s so scary

I personally found it sick how Aryeh relates to his mother. They are so enmeshed, almost like emotional incest.

This sometimes happens when the husband is not available emotionally, women will use their oldest child instead as their emotional backbone. It's called emotional parentification.

Does anyone else think he's got a lot of his father in him? More than he'll ever admit?

100% agree with you. Twice you can see how he got a surge of anger but was able to reign it in before anything happened. And where is he for the person who needs him the most, his wife? The way he sometimes responds to Miri making her feel like it’s all her fault not taking responsibility for how his actions effected the situation.

A social worker went to visit Miri in the NICU and validates most of her feelings. Miri asks her to come back when her husband is there but to make it seem like a surprise so he won’t be mad and realizes that the social worker made a mental note of that.
