I made gefillte fish on Sunday for the first days of y"t. I ended up with an entire loaf left over. Will it still be good to serve on shabbos? When I usually make for shabbos we usually finish the whole thing or have at most 1-2 pieces left that I just throw out of noone eats on Sunday night for dinner. It seems wasteful to throw out a whole loaf, but I've never saved for that long before so no idea of it will have lasted ok. Anyone care to share how long cooked gefillte fish can safely last in the fridge?

I doubt it - I'm sure your fridge was opened a million times plus is may have sat out a few times. fish really only lasts a few days.

In my fridge, a loaf of gefilte fish lasts a full week. Taste it first and then decide. I usually freeze leftover fish right after yt, and then take out of the freezer as needed.

We used to cook Gefilte fish on Friday and eat it on Wednesday, if you made it Sunday it should be fine for Shabbos. I find that most cooked food lasts a week in the fridge. I can't think of any exceptions off-hand.

So in true imamother fashion the votes are split 50/50. Half say absolutely not, toss it, and the other half say it's totally fine LOL. Guess I'll give it a sniff and a taste in the morning and decide based on that.

So I'll be the tie breaker. I vote it's fine. As long as it was refrigerated fresh. I wouldn't use it for yt though, a week is prob pushing the max.

I wouldn't use it. Next time you can freeze it as soon as you realize you have that much extra.
