This is going to be my first year as the kriah teacher, and I'm just looking for some tips from all the more qualified teachers out there 🙈 How do you teach multiple kids at the same time who are all on different letters, etc? Do you just do one on one? How long do you work with each child?
Also, any good ideas for something fun or exciting to do with everyone together on the first day of school, just as an introduction of sorts?
Thank you!

Hi! Kriah teacher here, who loves her job!
Are you going to be teaching groups? Pull-outs? One on one?
It makes a big difference how the kriah program is set up in your school.
I've done mostly one on one kriah, but sometimes small groups, with the students paired together according to level, so you're not teaching different levels together. Usually 20-30 minutes per session.
Any specific questions?

So I didn't get a whole lot of direction from the principal, our school is very small and out in the middle of nowhere, so it's kind of just up to me if I'm going to do small groups or one on one. What are pull outs?
What's the pros of doing small groups as opposed to one on one?
How long was each session when you were one on one? Was that every day?
Thank you!!

Hi . Usually we have another teacher and we split up in groups. If not give one group kriah coloring pages, there are books, and work one group at a time or give the other children kriah coloring or kriah games( matching, bingo, and call one child at a time for a few minutes at a time and keep a notebook with each page designated to another student.
We usually do a group lesson before hand.

Gotcha that makes sense. I'll be the only kriah teacher but the regular teachers will still be there and I'm just kind of.. On the side, while morning free play is going on.

I'm doing preschool, kindergarten, and pre 1-a classes, which is less than 20 kids total, ranging in age from idk, 4-6?
Thanks for the link!

Still struggling with finding something fun to do on the first day, and something that will help me figure out where everyone's holding in their kriah.
On a separate note, if someone wants private kriah tutoring, how much do you think is fair to charge?

Have you checked out chinuch.org?
That's the best place for all kriah resources and ideas. They probably also have assessments/ activities to check students' level.
When I responded originally, I had in mind remedial kriah - like pulling kids out of class for extra kriah help. I take it you're going to be doing kriah in the actual classrooms? In that case I'd recommend groups. Even if your classes are very small, divide them into even smaller groups according to level. If there's an assistant or another teacher available to work with one group while you work with another, or they can do kriah in shifts while the rest of the class has free play or whatever else you said is going on in their classrooms.
Hatzlacha!

Yeah I found chinuch.org today and have been slowly making my way through it, thanks!
I can either do small groups in the class, or just pull them out one on one, depending. There are really no rules here lol just do as I see fit. So I'll have to get a feel for it and then go off of that I hope. Thanks for your ideas!

Our school sent home these books for summer homework this year, and I thought they were great for extra practice at home. One page at a time didn't seem too hard and then the kids liked checking it off.
