How are you planning on getting through the day?
I'm really nervous this year, it's the first time I won't be with family in the country and my kids 3&1 will be home and bored all day.
DH is not a good faster and will prob be in bed most of the day.
How will we pass the day? Any suggestions? It will prob be way too hot (NYC) for us to be outside much

Stock up on crafts and toys for the kids. If you let them watch a dvd then let them watch for downtime. Nap when they nap.

My kids are around the same age. Our tentative schedule for the day:
Husband takes them for an hour in the morning before he leaves for shul while I sleep in.
Breakfast. Story time.
Around 9:30- craft time for big kid (prepare ahead so it's easy.) Baby will just play or cuddle or whatever.
10- snack for kids
Independent playtime till lunch. I have a few new toys from amazing savings hidden to take out then.
11:30- lunch (easy and preprepared)
Naptime for everyone. 3 year old will probably nap in my bed with me if necessary.
After naptime , 1 Daniel tiger episode.
Another project.
Playtime
Daddy will get stuck with the 4:30-5:30 hour while I take a break.
Dinner
Storytime
Bed.

Wow this is great, really gives me clarity and reminders on what to prep.

Good ideas Scarlet.

ty.

I don't plan on having my 3 year old nap. He only naps shabbos and it delays bedtime. I want him in bed early so I can have the 7:30-9:30 quiet at least...

Bubbles
Play doh
Snack bags
Nosh
Coloring pages
Chalk
Pipe cleaners & beads
Let them empty out the toy closet and destroy the house j/k

Edit: since youā€™re not going outsideā€”put a plastic tablecloth down on the floor and have them color table salt on paper plates using chalk, my kids love it. Not sure how old your younger one is though, if theyā€™ve just turned 1 none of this is age appropriateā€¦ sorry

That's kind of the problem, my baby is just a year so he can't really be occupied with crafts.
When older dc will finally settle and play nicely with toys baby comes along to destroy.
Hopefully we'll have a good day... thanks everyone for suggestions

At this age on fast days Iā€™d just let them trash the house. It was easier for me to clean up after I broke the fast. They happily occupied themselves with toilet paper and pots and I donā€™t even remember what else.

Can you hire an 11 y.o. to play with your kids for a couple of hours?

Anyone have specific craft ideas or links suitable for toddlers? Also in same situation but hoping Jewish videos and basic toys will help the time pass... Maybe even doing some baking with the kids

I have a hyperactive 2 year old and 6month old. My husband also is a bad faster. I asked my rav and was told to only fast at night. Since itā€™s a nidcha, itā€™s more lenient.

I have a 16 month old. Planning on doing a lot of snacks and just letting him get into whatever he wants to as long as itā€™s safe. He also likes washable dot paints and I got him a crayola doodle board that I hope heā€™ll like

In a high chair, squirt whipped cream, or put yogurt, pudding, or jello on their trays.

Let the kids, fingerpaint and play.

Maybe have your toddler in just a diaper - it gets messy.
