When you didn’t answer right away… what now?

I posted a small question on a not very active WhatsApp group (was created for one specific purpose).

I posted around 24 hr ago. Shortly afterwards, someone answered.

Then 12 hours ago another person did.

Immediately afterwards, a simple thumbs up would have been appropriate but it was really hectic and I didn’t.

Do I just let it go now?

It wasn’t a request for help or information, more checking that something being done is correct and they confirmed that it is.

I think it's polite to answer with some acknowledgment/sign of appreciation even though time has passed

My husband says answering now would be “a tinge of weird.”

I hate being an overthinker.

If it were me I would private message the person and say, "I'm sorry I didn't respond right away. Thank you for your response."

That even I can see would be taking it way too seriously and be more than a tinge of weird

It was more like—I asked if the xyz is really called (whatever name)? And they said yes. They really didn’t work hard.

better to be polite and a tinge weird than rude and normal.

It's not worth over thinking. Either post a thumbs up or say sorry just see this now

Nowadays you can do a thumbs up on the answer itself
Which is less obvious

Something like "thanks!" might do

Oh interesting idea!!

(I still didn’t answer yesterday because I still couldn’t decide with my husband right there saying it was weird… but still feels lacking…)

Obviously this way no one sees who put the symbol there. But maybe it works?

Next time these people open the group they’ll see it but there won’t be a notification?

If they click on it, they can see who posted it but u want them to know you acknowledged their response so thats fine.

Omg I know I’m way overthinking this. At what point does it just become too late to say “thanks”?

After a week Very Happy
Either tap it and reply thanks or thumbs up or push the emoji on it
Don’t overthink it just do it

Thanks!

I know I am way overthinking (I am exhausted and it causes me to lose proportion in my thoughts.)

Do you think putting the thumbs up emoji on their thing is "just as good" as actually responding thanks or thumbs up? It's a new thing and I'm not in the habit of using it.

(I'm trying to think how I would feel if I was the one who provided the answer and no one answered but later when I came back to the group I saw the thumbs up emoji... I think I would feel fine? It's just the answer seemingly ignored that to me doesn't seem so nice.)

Are men really different than women in this regard? Cuz everyone here seems unanimous that I should answer but my husband said otherwise so I wonder if that's the reason. He's generally a nice and polite person but he is a man.
