No Clarissa bakes. I don't bake on the theory that not baking=no high calorie foods in my house= weight loss. I'll let you know when it starts to work.

I don't bake b/c dh either eats it all or doesn't touch it. neither scenario works for me.

thaks again for typing up the whole thing! | Forget that recipe. There are a million non-mocha recipes out there for fantastic brownies. This is more chocolate than coffee, but there is definitely a hint of coffee.

chaylizi wrote: | cassandra, do you like that cookbook? | Eleanor Klivans is my favorite baking cookbook author. She has a Bake and Freeze Chocolate cookbook that is probably my most used cookbook of all time. I have three of her books and use them all the time.

GR wrote: | Here's what I do, sarahd, for apple kugel:
4-5 apples diced, any kind (depends if they're big or small apples)
mix 4 eggs, 1 cup of oil (I put less), 1/4-1/2 cup of sugar (depends how sweet you want it)
add a drop of vanilla, some cinnamon
(salt and baking powder, if you want, I skip that part)
add 1 1/2 cups of flour, mix well
add apples last
Bake at 350 for about an hour in 9x13
I do it by hand because I like the apple chunks, but it's good completely blended too. I don't make it very sweet because I want a kugel, not a cake. |
GR, the kugel was a huge hit here, thanks! I halved the recipe, used three thinly sliced apples and raw sugar and baked it into a loaf pan (for much less than an hour . It was just the right height and size for us.

I'm busy this week doing some baking and freezing for an upcoming party, so I'm making a really easy menu:
Cod teriyaki
Jasmine rice
Roasted brussels sprouts
Carrots with Peanuts and Coriander
Double Decker Mocha brownies and Dark Chocolate White Chocolate Chunk Brownies (I have them in the freezer from last week)
