This time of year…😡😡
And I ve been teaching for 20 years. Purim begins with Rosh Chodesh Adar apparently and every day is another story. BH I teach and my students value that . But I look around at what’s going on at co teachers etc and it makes me so upset. 2 wks of craziness, disrespect, flaunting rules etc and the administration chases their tails trying to keep on top of our, which only backfires.
I find it brings out the worst in everyone. The mature smart girls def don’t enjoy it and the other girls fool themselves in thinking it all “fun”
I know there’s nothing to really do , but just needed to get that off my chest!

I am a high school principal. After several years of trying futilely to control the craziness, we started taking a different approach. A bit before Rosh Chodesh, we hold an assembly celebrating the imminent arrival of the happiest month of the year! At this assembly we discuss the correct way of being be'simchah and outline our plan for the month. We schedule a grand trip (usually overnight) as well as a massive chagigah. The trip and chagigah are conditional on there being no chaos, silliness or wild shtick of any kind. We've been doing this for several years and everyone (including staff!) loves Adar now! It is a happy, hopping, geshmak time of year. The girls channel their energy into their assigned jobs for the overnight trip and the chagigah.
