I can't really answer on this b/c I remember reading about Robin Hood when I was very young in children's books, but I don't remember anymore what I read, except that he was an outlaw. And the same re Little John; did he have some connection to Robin Hood, perhaps?

Little John was Robin Hood's right hand man. And depending on what version of Robin Hood you're watching you know they have that different personality as in boss versus right hand man
