I agree with you totally: once the Shabbos tishtech is on the table and the same time I also place the Challah deckel, and thus the weekday table clutter has vanished, it already feels Shabbosdik. There's certainly a change in the atmosphere.

True - we put a disposable plate with some challah pieces outside on Shabbos day.

I didn't know that some people put it outside before Shabbos.
