OP, you're not being very nice. Don't start a super vague thread and then bash people when they ask very reasonable questions.

Op - are you Israeli by chance? Just wondering because you don’t seem to know what yeshivish is.
In any case, I don’t know why everyone is attacking op. Why the hostility? Cant you ask questions in a civil manner?
The Hebrew wikipedia tells me מעלה עמוס is a tiny settlement in the West Bank.

I don't think anyone on here should be discouraging a north American Aliyah.

BOTTOM LINE DO HOMEWORK before you have a say |
I think that's for the best.
This thread is very confusing.

This looks chareidi, not yeshivish. They are NOT the same thing!
There are plenty of communities for chareidim, like Beitar and Kiryat Sefer. What’s the point of this?

I didn’t see that coming . Why do you say knocking ? Because the thread sounds like a game of pinball gone haywire . No one is talking the same language here .

From what I’ve seen, the ads in America for communities in israel are often lacking some information. Check if it’s actually 30 minutes during the times you might actually travel. Call the listed rav and get his views. Talk to people in that community or the one next door. Get the floor plan and square meters of the homes. These sound quite small. A big adjustment from what I saw in Lakewood.

How ironic! After your earlier post smearing all the Americans who made aliyah to RBS. As if there are no off the derech kids in the holy United States! I wouldn't call your earlier post a "reasonable" response!

Because those areas have gotten very expensive. What's the point of Jews from Brooklyn and Lakewood moving to Jackson or Howell etc? Same thing.

Okay, I looked at the flyer. Basically, this is an ad for a new housing development in Ma'ale Amos, which (according to Google Maps), is about a 40-70 min commute from central Jerusalem by car, depending on traffic. It is close to Tekoa, if that means anything to poeple reading this. Ma'ale Amos is currently a small community of ~700 people, many of whom are Americans affiliated with Aish HaTorah. It is east of the Green Line, if that factors into anybody's decision-making.

I read one of the links someone posted above. It clearly said:
There is no Ulpan or other extra resources for immigrants, as there are no immigrants coming directly from abroad. Residents are extremely friendly and helpful, yet they recommend new immigrants start out in a more Americanized setting for a softer landing to avoid the culture shock and other difficulties, such as language or unrealistic expectations.
So maybe not the best idea for new immigrants.
It also had housing prices listed: Prices of apartments in the new expanded area start at 790,000 NIS for three rooms (2 bedrooms). A four-room apartment with a garden will cost about 940,000 NIS, and villas and private homes will cost more.
Now these prices may be from 2-3 years ago. Prices have risen A LOT in Israel. But if that's still the price to purchase, it might be better to buy than to rent there long term.

Okay, I'll comment as well. We have researched Maale Amos over the years as an aliyah destination. Its a small chareidi yishuv with lots of chutznikim. Because the location is not considered the safest and its somewhat isolated, they have had a hard time attracting new families. The people we spoke to are very happy.
A few years ago, a chassidish group bought/built? a bunch of housing and encouraged young families who had lower budgets to move there. From what I heard, they were successful and are happy.
Now you have a few Lakewood-type individuals who are trying to promote chareidi aliyah. Instead of people just landing in Israel and trying to find their way around Beitar, Kiryat Sefer, etc they are trying to create a supportive community. There is also a group trying to do this in Afula (which has been discussed on imamother).
I'm not sure what the problem is. Either you like the idea of a supportive kehilla and moving with a group or you don't. If you do, look into the above options, and if you don't, move on with your life.
