Are there any pets that are low maintenance? Would love to get something but dont want to be to busy with it. Is there such a thing?

It depends on what you mean by low maintenance. For example, snakes eat only about once a week, but they need to be fed mice.

We had a guinea pig and a cat (two actually, but one at a time). Cats are much easier in my opinion. They're cleaner and stink less, and more self-sufficient. They're also much more pet-like than guinea pigs (or other caged animals). We got an adult cat from a shelter because we wanted one with a "tried and true" personality, vs. a kitten that is, first of all higher maintenance, and you don't know what their personality will be like when they reach adulthood (calm or wild, gentle or territorial, etc.)
