my kids are so frustrating!!
my ds played for hours on the computer when I was out of the house yesterday - he wasn't supposed to have a turn at all (for general misbehavior), and turns by us are supposed to be limited to an hour, but I never should leave the house?
So he SPRAINED HIS WRIST from overuse and now he's home from school!
His sis stayed up late and threw up this morning from exhaustion, so she's home too - you just can't win!

Wow...when it rains it pours..maybe they could keep each other company...is the difficulty that you have to work with them around?
Can you have a kind of password on the computer and not let them use it at all when you are not around?
I don't know if that suggestion will be helpful or not...
Well, we talk alot about consequence-based discipline, and it sounds like your son faced direct consequences for not obeying..but it sounds like it is pressured for you two that he is home..
But at least this may be a deterrent in future!

I don't work at home - I went off to work and left the 2 of them. But I don't think it's educational consequences to get a day off from school for computer games.

Why can't you just disconnect the offending computer?
How old is said boy?

When we felt the computer use was getting out of hand we just disconnected and they had to do boring things like read or leave the house to play with friends. It was terrible
I don't reward people who can't get up for school and it sounds like you don't either. We have enough work to do without being alarm clocks for kids who are "old enough to know better".

Why couldn't he go to school with a sprained wrist and at least listen? I've seen people go to school with casts on their legs.
