Who performed your wedding- your husband's rabbi? or was it the rabbi at the shul you go to? Were you happy with your rabbi's speech?
We've been married for 10 years and we haven't seen/heard from the rabbi that officiated our wedding. I wanted it to be the rabbi that I was close to, but dh insisted.

it was a rav from the yeshiva that my husband was in at the time that we got married. now though, he really does not have anything to do with the rav as well as the yeshiva but thats just the way life went.
as for a speech, I dont think that every wedding has speeches. the rav who was misader kidushin at our wedding insisted on a little speech between the two parts of the chupah, but to tell you the truth, during the actual wedding, I did not really hear what he said. my mind was elsewhere:) but I got to hear his speech when I watched our wedding video.

Nobody wanted to officiate at our wedding!!
Dh has been out of yeshiva too long for any of his rabbanim to come in and do it and there were like 7 other weddings taking place the same day (think Sunday wedding in June). B"H, we had a very chashuva rav in the end, someone from our community who ran to do another one right after. But it was quite amusing when we thought we're just going to have to use my brother or something .
And no speeches, b'h.

DH'S then Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Wilschansky of Tzfat.
We felt very proud and privileged to have him as our meseder Kiddushin.
he didn't make a speech...we had a very traditional Chabad ceremony...I was very happy with the chuppah! b'h

My husband's rav who is one of the heads of Ohr Somayach in MTL. We still go there & DH still learns with him.
One of the other rabbis from OS made a speech during the meal as did DH. Don't ask me what either was about.

My husband's favorite professor (who is also a rabbi).

It's actually not complicated at all. You can be halachically married without a mesader kidushin, the Rabbi just oversees to make sure the process occurs k'din.
Unlike in a church wedding where the "officiant" actually makes you married.

Mesader Kiddushin was DH's Rav, head of Congregationg of Savannah, Georgia (Rabbi Avigdor Slaytus). We wanted him to come so badly (wedding was in Brooklyn), but were hesitant to ask. He, himself, called MIL and offered to come! It was amazing. My in-laws are still in touch with them even after moving away. We split the rest between other rabbis here. No speeches: short, sweet and to the point
