My husband's friend, Shragy Gestetner from Monsey passed away. He has 5 children Crying

I'm assuming they broke a gag order, or didn't know about one.

The bodies are still being identified but I have no doubt there are rumors/ identifications making the rounds on WhatsApp.

There should be a gag order. Not all the families have been contacted yet. No one needs to learn about such things through the media.

Is there anyone in Israel who hasn't been in a much much overcrowded place? I'd guess we all have. Meron isn't my style and I've never been there, but I've been to the Kotel on Yom Haatzmaut and on Yom Yerushalayim and to get there I've walked through alleys in the old City that were so crowded you were literally touching people on all sides while stand-walking. It felt unsafe but I thought to myself "they do this every year and nothing has happened so it must be safe and Gd will protect us". Now I get the chills just thinking of it.

I've also been on trains (pre Corona) that were so packed you couldn't sit down or move from one car to the next. If chas ve shalom there had been a terrorist attack or the train had turned over, we could have been in the same position as those who perished in Meron last night.

The shuk. Some busses. Some batei knesset on chagim. It could have been any of us.

Can someone explain to me when this happened, or at least when the news of it broke?

I just heard about this maybe half an hour ago, and I have close family in New York with relatives in Israel. Some part of my mind is seriously hoping that the fact that they didn't say anything to me means that everything is OK, but depending on when exactly this happened, maybe they just don't know that anything has happened yet??? New Yorkers won't wake up for a few hours yet, and some of the ones I'm thinking of have sons learning in Yeshiva there....oh I don't even want to think about it...

Hashem should comfort all of us and protect and help all of those in need of our tefillos
