My 11 daughter was complaining that her stomach hurt. She only recently developed breast buds . I would say started breast development at 10.5 and pediatrician said at her 11 year check up she has at least a year till her period. The breasts seems to be developing relatively quickly , although she doesn’t yet have a need for a real bra, she can prob wear something for some support. She recently started pubic hair growth, I know she has some now, but don’t know exactly when it started, maybe a few months ago . The stomach hurting kind of made me nervous. I noticed a speck of clear discharge on her underwear and when I checked a google search seems like it says discharge starts 6 months to a year prior to first period. Any experience you ladies can share regarding time line of events that lead up to first period? I’m just not ready for this. My older daughter got her first right before her 12th bday fwiw .

I would agree with your doctor that you prob have about a year. But you'll find out! I assume your daughter has been educated about what's coming.
Since you asked for signs, here's my weird story: My mother told me "You're going to get your period today" and she was right, so I was actually wearing a pad the moment I got my first period. She knew because she was around while I was getting dressed and she saw the brown discharge on my underwear. I said "No, it's looked like that before" which was true!!! But yeah.

If she doesnt need a real bra yet, she probably still has plenty of time till period.
Pubic hair starts 1-2 years before period

I got my period at 11 before I needed a bra.
Pubic hair just about started growing in.
No way to know for sure.

Hard to know but why the nerves? Prepare her for it and it'll come when it comes.

Ty. I did prepare her for it, but I feel like it just crept up on us- the whole starting to develop and I don’t think she’s ready and I was expecting more time. I’m hoping we still have some time but we’ll see! Thanks for the advice. Anyone have additional experience to share?

I got pubic hair at about 8.5 and got my period at 11 and 4 months. Breast budding started like at 9 but only needed a training bra at 11.

My daughter got her period about 18 months after she showed the first signs of puberty. Thought for sure that she'd have another year at least...

No doctor can tell you that there's at least a year until her period.
Well they can tell you. My DD's pediatrician told us that at a well-visit, and she got her period that night.
Definitely do whatever you can to prepare your DD, as it sounds as if she's getting there.
