Whats for shabbos meal tonight?

Carrot salad:
Carrots, shredded/grated

Dressing:
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
3 cloves garlic crushed
4 tablespoons honey
just less than 1/3 cup lemon juice

Toasted pinenuts sprinkled on top


Crunchy Egg Salad:
6 hard boiled eggs, chopped but not too small, rather chunky
1 green pepper, chopped
4 sticks celery, chopped
some spring onions, chopped (optional)

Dressing:
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
salt & pepper
onion, chopped

Combine dressing and mix with salad. Sprinkle chopped or dried parsley on top.

Enjoy!

U r right Very Happy DS and DH love them, so I get them occasionally in King Tomato in Brooklyn.
As for the crabmeat salad, I posted the recipe here before. Just a short recap:
Cut up a pack of imitation crab meat (any kind) in small pieces. Add 4-5 hard boiled chopped eggs. Dress with mayo and salt to taste. Variations: You can add a can of sweet corn or make it an "olivie" salad with crab meat, cut up boiled potatoes, can of sweet peas, eggs and mayo.

Friday night we're having guests.

Half and half challah
Gefilte fish
roasted potatoes
noodles and cabbage
broccoli kugel
tomato salad
turkey
cherry coffee cake

For lunch we're going to be our guests' guest.

White Kesser wine
Bough egg challos and rolls

Baked gef fish with sautéed onions
Plain green salad - upon request of DS

Soup from freezer with bought soup nuts

Arroz con Pollo from purp Lub cookbook

Caramel-Glazed Pear Cake - will post recipe soon

Challah (from the freezer)
boiled gefilte fish, cracker salad, and crunchy cabbage salad (both recipes from last week's mishpacha)
chicken soup and matza balls
sweet and sour meatballs
sesame noodles
hawain chicken (chicken baked with rice, peppers, pineapple and hawian sauce)
meat pie with mushroom sauce
scalloped potatoes
glazed sweet potato
chocolate layered cake with cream cheese frosting

Shabbas day
fish with salads
cholent
homemade kishka
shnitzel
carrot muffins
potatoe kugel
maybe deli
dessert-??

we are only eating home shabbos day, but are having guests:

Challah (bought)
israeli salad
caesar salad
tuna pasta salad
Cholent with kishke
Rice (cooked in bag in cholent)
apple kugel
still unsure about dessert... any ideas for something REALLY easy??

mommy24: how do you make the ice cream brownie bars? bake brownies in a 9x13 pan and let it cool and then add the ice cream on top?

Here's my menu

Challah, still not back on making them yet
Baked Gefilte fish
Supremely Spicy Chummus (sabra)
Matbucha, homemade
Marinated Tomato salad
small romaine salad for me
Chicken soup with lokshen
Dump chicken (used Lemon marinade and will roast it tomorrow)
Maybe some other dish perhaps kugely which DH will eat as he won't eat...
Sweet potato pie
Cold cuts (for the day meal)
Eggs with onion
Chocolate Cake

My MIL makes it. I tried it once. It is much more tasty than the store version...but one word of advice...
Do Not Make it on Erev Shabbos!!!
It is very messy to make. But Yum...I think it could even be made Wed..def. on Thurs.
How is it spicey, Bashinda..what's in it?

hot red pepper, garlic, "seasonings and spices" whatever they are. I guess I could take a recipe and just experiment

There's a little mountain of spicy stuff in the middle. Maybe you cook the hot peppers with spices and oil separately? although the rest of the chummus has a flavor of the spiciness.

It's not my thing truthfully. I like spicy but not with chummus.

It is not a Jewish brand but everything they make is kosher and pareve. I thought it was sold all over europe. The yougurts they make used to have a hechsher on from antwerp, although not any more - although they are still kosher. Go to their website - www.alprosoya.com.

They do soya, rice, oat milk, cream, puddings, yogurts and more.

They are all listed on kosher.org.uk - they have a product finder you can check.
