Neither. We buy what we need and when we need. No extras. And very often we have to wait until we have the funds. No taking loans to buy, no credit cards etc. It might sound stingy but it's not, and thus prevents one from having sky-rocketing debts.

I don't bake for Mishloach Manos, or send homemade food, except perhaps to my m-i-l.
My mother doesn't live in the same country as me Sad

Many people here don't eat homemade from MM b/c of hechsherim, or they don't know if the homemade is "recycled."
