I'm sending a fish course to my sil (she's making a simcha and this is what she asked for when I offered help). She's much more put together than me. My go to salmon is smeared with mayo+lemon pepper, but I got that recipe from her years ago, and I'd love to send her something more impressive. I have some time to practice a new recipe on my family for this shabbos, then make it for her the following week...so: any ideas for an easy but impressive looking salmon?

Cut into cubes, marinate in teriyaki and orange juice, thread into skewers, sprinkle sesame seeds and bake.
Marinate in honey, mustard, garlic cube, dash of soy sauce, then bread, spray and bake.
Marinate in lemon juice, a little olive oil, crushed garlic, and a mix of dried herbs (I use whatever is in pantry, usually parsley, dill, rosemary, Basel, oregano) and bake.

This involves a good processor so not the fastest but it is so impressive and delicious. I love it for yt. It’s herb salmon from Danielle silver cookbook ( the recipe is online so not copying from the book)
https://jewinthecity.com/2019/.....eder/
Ingredients
1 skinless, boneless fillet of salmon (about 2 lb/1 kg)
kosher salt
freshly ground black pepper
11/2 cups fresh parsley
1 cup fresh mint or basil
11/2 cups fresh dill
6 scallions, trimmed
4 cloves garlic (about 2 tsp)
2 Tbsp olive oil
juice of 2 lemons (about 6-8 Tbsp)
1-2 Tbsp honey
Method
1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil; coat with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Place salmon onto prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle generously with salt and pepper.
3. Using a food processor or mini prep, process parsley, mint, dill, scallions, and garlic until coarsely chopped. Add oil, lemon juice, and honey; pulse briefly to combine.
4. Remove 3-4 Tbsp of herb mixture and set aside. Spread remaining herb mixture evenly over salmon. Let stand 20-30 minutes if time allows.
5. Bake, uncovered, for 15-18 minutes, or until salmon flakes when lightly pressed with a fork.
6. Transfer salmon fillet to an oblong serving platter or cut it into individual portions. Spoon on reserved herb mixture. Serve hot or at room temperature.

This is gorgeous and super easy! Many times we make it with just one or two toppings... most popular by my family is to top with crushed pistachios. |
I second this one!
I also like this one, but it's milchig: https://www.kosher.com/recipe/.....-9126

Spread mayo thinly on salmon and sprinkle with a little pepper and garlic powder. Cover in mixture of crushed pistachios and cornflakes crumbs. (This recipe is from BY Cookbook #2, it has a really good honey mustard sauce to drizzle on top before serving)

Salmon Wellington or equivalent!
Apologies that I don't have an official recipe.
Roll out a package of puff pastry (store bought). Brush with Dijon mustard.
Place skin-off salmon on top. There should be about an inch of puff pastry around the entire perimeter.
Place chopped greens (baby spinach, collard greens, whatever) on top of the salmon in a thin-ish layer, then top with another piece of puff pastry.
Crimp the edges all around with the tines of a fork so they stay together, slice thin slices in the top of the puff to allow steam to escape during baking, brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds if there are no allergy issues.
Bake in a 350 degree oven until golden brown.
Yum and very impressive in my neighbourhood.
