OK, first: Part of the secret Jewish military arsenal, along with cholent-powered rockets. (Omg, what if a cholent-powered rocket has kosher hot cocoa bombs in its payload....will the cholent tranquilize the masses or the caffeine wake them up?)

Movie characters appear different at different times
Well, yes, costume changes and changes in lighting and makeup will do that. Also, sometimes an actor quits or dies in the middle of production and another actor takes his place. And sometimes they use actors of different ages to play a character at different stages of life.
