Then he started crying because he couldn’t get the rest of the peel off. I had turned around to talk to my husband.
I have enough issues taking care of my kids when I’m just 2 feet away ...

They surely monitor highways, don't they?

Ok. Playing devils advocate here,
I don’t think little kids should be near open flames. Kids should be kids, they have time to burn themselves when they get a bit older.
And I know someone that let her children play with fire and they burnt themselves, so there is a chance of danger.
But really, the chances are so slim.

I told someone you will be happy with your girlie, in ten years when she will help you, compared to your friends who will be old bubbies with empty nest.
She responded why in ten yrs, she already helps me. She peels veg & folds laundry, but only when she is in the mood.
P.S. kid is 2.

I think it's ok if you leave her at an open flame if she's toasting marshmallows.

The answer, of course, depends on gender.
Girls need to learn how to cook sooner rather than later, but it's not tznius for boys to be in the kitchen.
At that age it's more about the chinuch than tznius, though.

I never let my toddler near an open flame. If I let her sear the meat, who will dice the onions while it browns? Furthermore, I cry a lot when I cut onions, and she cries often anyway, so I figured kill 2 birds with one stone.
Do you think that Cutco knives would be a good Chanukah present for her or do you recommend a different brand?

This mental picture is making me ill.
In BP, on Sukkos, I looked out my window and I saw a 2 year old cross from one side of the street to the other and back, on a very busy block, all while yelling to my husband to run down the steps to get the child. There was no parent to be found. Adults were busy serving I guess. Stranger (young Chassidish boy) passing saw this, and knocked on door luckily, as my husband was running down the steps. It seems someone left the door open and no one noticed child was missing.
And now I read this?

Let's face it: humans are stupid and have poor survival insticts...
As stuffed tiger Hobbes said to his human friend Calvin:
"I can't even understand how you make it to adulthood"

This must be a joke. Not because of the question as I wouldn’t judge people for not knowing but the way the question was written sounds like this is a post to get people riled up! No it is not ok. Don’t do it. Period.
