He DOES see it. And that is exactly why it takes till day 5. Because D is assuming he’s NOT blue, C should only be seeing A and B and therefore AB and C should be leaving day 3. But since that doesn’t happen, D now knows that he’s also blue. So if my assumption that I’m not blue is true, ABCD should be leaving day 4. Seeing that doesn’t happen tells me that MY assumption has been wrong and I must also be blue. THAT COULD ONLY HAPPEN AFTER 4 DAYS. And so, the next night we’re all leaving.
Gonna bother you one more time.

Stop explaining it with less than 40. Let’s go by the riddle. On day one all blue eyed see 39 blue and 60 brown. The brown see 40 blue and 59 brown. That’s on day one. What happens on day two? Then day three? Then day four? Then day five? They are sitting around till day 40. WHY OH WHY OH WHY OH WHY?
Listen my dear. I might not be a genius and solve all riddles here but at least when I read the answer it adds up and makes sense. Here I see absolutely no logic in waiting 40 days. I don’t understand what happens on day 25,26,27... need I ask this again? Feel bad I’m exhausting you Tamari. Don’t bother answering again unless if your answer is different This time. At this point I’m just curious if others do understand the answer.
Maybe on day 2 they all start running towards the plane.
Then they see brown-eyed people run towards the plane... and since they are logical they stop and think...
So they conclude: if everybody runs to the plane, including all brown-eyed inhabitants, maybe I'm browneyed too???
This had me laughing. Picturing all of them running and suddenly seeing all brownies running, then all of them stopping short just before boarding. I’m so stressed about this so thanks.

But why in the world would everyone run to the plane? Only if they know for certain they are blue, then they go.
I’ll go bake some cookies with the kids. Hope by the time I’ve eaten some I’ll either gain some weight wisdom and understand the answer, or see a different explanation.

This is just having fun with the riddle. Can you answer the first post of this page? Only if you have a different answer than till now. Otherwise no need to repeat.
the 60 brown-eyed inhabitants seee that there are 40 blue-eyed inhabitants.
the 40 blue-eyed inhabitants see that there are 39...
So the blue-eyed guys expect the blue-eyed guys to board on day 39.
But it doesn't happen... So they see that they are mistaken, that they were not 39, but 40, and that they themselves are the missing one... so they all understand on day 39 after the plane left, that they have blue eyes... and board on day 40...
The brown-eyed guys see 40 blue-eyed guys... so they expect them to board on day 40 (or 41?).
But since the rush happens on day 40, they understand that they don't have blue eyes... that everyone who had blue eyes has gone...

This is the same answer as till now. I’ll repeat the same question. Why no action at all on day 20 or 30?
You have this new routine of going shopping every Sunday. You decide to head towards the local bus station at a random time every Sunday and board whichever bus comes first.
There is the G20 bus that will get you to Plaza mall or the D20 bus that will get you to American Mall. The plan seems perfect because you know that both buses run every 20 minutes.
But after a few months you realize that you have visited American mall only once in 5 weeks. Why is this happening if you are indeed heading to the station at random times?

This makes more sense,But only if the plane comes back repeatedly only as long as there should have been a single passenger per day. And then stops.
So if you know the plane needs to come at least 40 times- no one has gone up yet, since no one is sure they are blue yet, and you see only 39 blue eyed people then you know there must be 40 and you are one of them.
But tamari keeps on saying that there will be people every day that will be going on the plane....which isn’t the case. Only the 40 th day if anything.
And the riddle hasn’t said that the plane will stop coming once the amount of days passed equal to the amount of blue eyes

Why can’t it just be random? Who says the equation must be 2/3, what’s wrong with 4/1 if it’s random?

Tamari didn’t say 1 must board every day.

But why did the leader say there is at least 1 blue eyed? Why was it necessary for him to say that if everyone can clearly see at least 39? I’m afraid the leader announced there are at least 39. That way all the blue eyed boarded the Second day after seeing that the first 39 didn’t board on the first.
This answer adds up so well. Tamari are you sure you didn’t make a mistake with the leader’s announcement? His announcement made no sense as is.
