Per my calculator
Thatβs how many minutes. But remember that there are only 60 seconds in a minute.

Even though I did not solve it like that!
I think this off by a factor of 5 or so
Because the result you obtain would be between 5 and 6 pm...and we agreed it wbetween 1:05 and 1:06 pm...

No, the answer is 1:05 and 27 seconds and 45 hundredths.

Algebraically, you can solve it like this:
Starting from noon, both hands travel different distances at different rates, but for the same amount of time. D=R*T, so T=D/R. Since the times are equal (because they will meet at that time) so D/R (hour hand) = D/R (min. hand).
D (hour hand)= X
D (min. hand)= 60+X
R (hour hand)= 5/hour
R (min hand)= 60/hour
so, X/5 = (60+X)/60
and 60X = 300 + 5X
and X = 300/55 = 5.4545 minutes =5 minutes, 27.45 seconds

No because it is .45 of a minute, and .45 of a second. The seconds are divided into 100, not 60.

In your last line, there is conversion error...
5.45454545 minutes is not 5 min 27.45 seconds, but 5 minutes 27.27 seconds

You are correct. Conversion error.
