I'm trying to keep up with my languages in an informal way... watching movies, lectures, newscasts, reading, writing, talking...

Actually there are a few other languages I would like to learn, but I am not taking steps to really do it...

What would be the best approach to learning spanish, in your view?

No! Can't wiggle my toes either! As a kid, I kept trying! Hopeless!

But I CAN clean up my house, so there's that.

Are you sick of big fleishige meals yet?

No, I had no fleishiges on chol moed, except for leftovers... and I also do at least one milchig/parve meal on Yomtov/shabbat.

What's really hard are the three days yomtov/shabbat... then it starts being a bit too much meat and eating for me too...

What's the best way to start learning Spanish?

What do you think of that?

I would go for it if it was mandarin...or persian... or arabic... those are some of the languages on my (fictional) bucket list...

Do you like songs in ladino? (that might actually be a good starting point)

Your supper sounds delicious.

Just like you make shnitzel, but mushrooms instead of shnitzel:

You dip the mushroom in flour or cornstarch, then in egg (with salt & paprika), then in breadcrumbs

my mother used to fry them swimming in oil, she would take the whole mushrooms.

I prefer to separte the foot from the top, or even slice them if the mushrooms are big, before I dip them in flour, egg, breadcrumbs, and put on an oven pan with a bit of oil under it, a bit of oil on top, and bake them in the oven, preheated, at 200-230°C, for about 20 minutes... It's good if you have a lot of heat from the top... if you have two oven sheets, you could switch them at halftime...

You can also put breaded white fish in the same oven... or potatoes for chips (just peel, cut in sticks, sprinkle with a bit of oil, bake for a bit longer, 30-40min)

Do you dislike being ridiculed or laughed at?

You can also do it with sliced zucchini or sliced celery (though you would have to briefly cook the celery)... that's the classic ersatz-shnitzel for the vegetarian at your table...

I used cookbooks to learn cooking at age 18,

Now I prefer to use youtube videos... I specially like young men who teach young men how to cook...

I like to look at cooking magazines or cookbooks, but I rarely really use them...
