ChanieMommy, sorry to nitpick (actually I’m not sorry), but based on some of your jargon I have picked up that you reside across the pond. I’m assuming England. So shouldn’t the title be “Maths and Logic”? I thought you guys call it Maths, as in short for Mathematics, while it’s we Americans who call it Math without the “s”. And what’s up with the “s” in Logics? Where does that come from?

And she does it. Now Albert knows the month, Bernhard knows the day.
Albert says:
"I don't know when Cherryl's birthday is, but I know that Bernhard doesn't know either!"
Bernhard says:
"Now I know when Cherryl's birthday is!"
Albert says:
"Now I know too when Cherryl's birthday is!"

Do you know now when Cherryl's birthday is?

July 16
Here’s how:
If Albert knew that Bernhardt can’t know then it wasn’t a date which was specific for a month like May 19 or June 18
So the month Albert has is either July or august
Once Bernhardt knows that Albert claims he can’t know and hat it must be July or august, and he claims he got it then it must be the date unique to that month and that is how Albert figures it out....
An army can form either 13 equal squares (equal number rows and columns, with an equal number of men in each row and column) without the commander or one big square with the commander.
How many men are there in the army, including the commander?

Guess I’m not very clear....
Yes, that's right, and you explained it perfectly...

May and June were excluded, as you explained.
When Bernhard says he knows now, the 14th is excluded, because this day appears in July and August, so if it was the 14th, Bernhard could not know which month it was.
Now Bernhard said he knows. Albert, who knows the month, says he knows too. This means it cannot be August, because in August he would still have 2 possibilities left. So it has to be July 16th.
