What if the other person expects an answer rather than a nod? Sometimes people just want you to agree with them, just listen & validate, just hear you vent, but what happens if after their ramble they actually ask your opinion, but its anti theirs, but you just kept nodding along all the way, as if you agree but you really don't? Now they know you are a fake?

Here I am asking about general, you know how sometimes you just let the other person ramble irl or over phone, you didnt understand a word they said, you just nod, nod, nod or say uh-hu uh-hu & let phone hang on your laundry line.....then all of a sudden....you hear....so what do you think? Am I right or wrong? You have no clue what the convo was even about?

Oh ok that's easier to answer, then you just say, "Oh yah, I totally get that..." then you pay close attention to what they say next!

It's life - Where I come from, we name ALL our schools after cinnamon-flavored cereals 
I'm signing off now  , so I will end with a question: Do you own an electric fly swatter? If yes, do you cringe when you catch a fly?

But you are not practicing what you learned right now, which is to nod & validate. You are trying to distract me, but I am smarter than a horse where you cover the side of my eyes & just put something enticing in front of my eyes, so I should just follow on straight path in front of me, where you want me to go.

Ok, Gn! I see you rather like enc"roaching " the camp grass fields than the teen dmc's, in middle of night!
Maybe some other roachies that were feeding on the grass, while really listening into the dmc's, will answer the more pressing questions!

No. On purpose. I don't swat flies. and I would cringe if I roastet a fly with an electric fly swatter.
I keep flies from coming in by opening windows only during daytime or when rooms are dark... and having a curtain in front of the open window. Works very well where I live.... I hardly have any insects in my place.
What do you do when you discover a fat spider in your place?

No I never heard of it and I don't understand exactly what you mean, but if you say you tear the legs off, this would be terrible tsar baaley chaym and a very clear issur...
What I do: I take a cup and a thin piece of cardboard, put the cup over it and the cardboard under it, so that I don't have to touch it, because that would creep me out, and I throw it out of the window... If it's a very fat spider I might even bring it out of the door and depose it little bit further away... Works like a charm...
Is it evening/night or morning/day at your place?
