Can someone explain to me why people are wearing masks in their car when they're alone? I dont get it

It's called BRAINWASHING and it obviously works. I don't understand why people wear
masks while walking OUTDOORS either.

Scientists and governments could take a lesson or two in brainwashing from conspiracy theorists, that's for sure.
Most people brainwashed by quacks and conspiracy theorists can't even fathom that they were brainwashed. They just keep parroting what they were told, selecting from everything they read what they were told to learn from it, while failing to think for themselves and analyze the facts independently, all the while telling others how smart and enlightened they are and how they are such independent thinkers, not following the crowd at all.
It's really very funny, when you think about it. Smile

So you trust GOVERNMENT who take billions in bribes (donations) from global corporations over independent doctors and scientists?

Do you know history? Then you will know that Government has ALWAYS lied to the people in order to control them - whether it was claiming to be a GOD like Paroh or claiming that Kings rule by Divine Right - and 90% of the people BELIEVE Government. It worked in the olden days and it works today.

Yes, removing a mask is the same as removing a skirt. [sarcasm]

It would be removed for the same reason: because it is unnecessary. One difference (for me personally) is that removing a mask and putting it back on is much more uncomfortable. I get used to it after wearing it for a while, but if I take it off and put it back on, I start to feel it.

You're right.

No one is going to die if you remove your skirt.

You could kill someone by removing your mask around others.

The masks are still porous to some extent so the air doesn't actually build up. But it does trap air to the extent that you are breathing in high levels of carbon dioxide.

Untrue.

https://www.mayoclinichealthsy.....masks

Medical professionals have worn masks for decades without health effects. Carpenters. Construction workers.

Japanese people have worn face masks for years.

IF masks are effective in stopping a virus from exiting a mask then masks are
effective in preventing a virus from entering a mask, protecting the wearer.

Not everything works that way. Some doors only lock from the inside. If you make a paper funnel and put it over a half-empty ketchup bottle, flies will go in, but they won't be able to find their way out. When you make coffee, the filter keeps the grounds out of the liquid, but it doesn't keep the liquid out of the grounds.

How much longer?????
I can’t handle it anymore! Needed some indoor errands. Sweat is running down my face into my masks! Can’t breathe and getting dizzy from the recycled oxygen!

I've found that moving slower makes a huge difference in how I feel. If I try to move at my normal speed I'll feel out of breath, but if I walk a bit slower I'm ok. Try going slow and increasing your speed a bit at a time until you find what works for you.

And THANK YOU for wearing a mask! Applause Hug Yes Thumbs Up

I understand why you might think that, but that logic doesn't work for masks.

Nice try, though.

It's not smart to wear a mask while driving. There have been 1 car accidents when the person driving wore their mask too tight. Not enough air.
I know people here will use this as an example of the dangers of wearing a mask. I'm sorry for that. It's just an example of the dangers of wearing a mask too tight/incorrectly or the dangers of wearing one while driving.

It would be nice if that were true. Then all that surgeons would need to do is mask the patient. But that's not what they do, is it.

surgical n95 or other high medical grade masks are hardly what most if any people are wearing. they are not available for sale or purchase for other than medical personnel

people are wearing bandanas, cloth masks, and the like

the jury is still out on how protective in either direction this is

we do wear them when out just in case

Incorrect. It's not ideal protection (in the least) but still decreases the odds of pregnancy.

Bandanas and simple surgical masks still catch the droplets the wearer otherwise would be spreading to others.

Watch this video.

Honestly, have you been in midtown Manhattan recently? Its less crowded, some stores have closed, and there are places blocked off for outdoor eating. Otherwise, no different. Looters didn't "destroy" it.

In fact, I was in midtown at the height of the protests, at my office in Rock Center. No destruction visible.

The real estate market in Manhattan is down for a few reasons. First, businesses are realizing that a lot of their staff can operate remotely, and are giving up space. Next, (older) people prefer to be in less crowded places, particularly in light of the fact that so many cultural attractions remain closed. But if I had the money, I'd invest it now. It will be back in a couple of years.

I haven't been in Manhattan since March. Cuomo is offering to cook dinner for anyone who moves back. The news says that some of the major chain stores are not planning to reopen. It's probably like news reports on the virus hotspots where the whole world is avoiding the place but nobody there knows a soul who is sick.
Maybe we should put together an investment group if it's going to come back in the near future.

Just the opposite. That logic definitely does make sense! But most other people were brainwashed into thinking otherwise.

Could you explain why that logic doesnt work?

So you're saying that mask only work one way? If thats the case, then wearing the mask flipped around should protect you then.
