This was never the case and shouldn't become the norm now. We are basically saying we are never going to take a chance to get anyone sick ever again because maybe we are asymptomatic and carrying a deadly disease or a not so deadly disease but one that may kill a compromised person. We know lot more about this virus than we did a few months ago. You should read up on it. We know more about how it spreads, operates, and how to treat it. It is over in my area and I refuse to just go along like sheeple with these rediculous new rules. |
I know and know of a number of people who died. Some had serious comorbidities, others did not.
Since I don't have a T shirt that says, Chill I Got Antibodies, I wear a mask for kavod habriyos.
And since we don't know how long the effect of antibodies last, maybe, just maybe, I'm doing it for myself as well.

I wear a mask plus full head to toe PPE for 10-11 hrs straight. It's rough.

I can’t handle it anymore! Needed some indoor errands. Sweat is running down my face into my masks! Can’t breathe and getting dizzy from the recycled oxygen! Can’t the stores blast their air conditioning with 20 degrees cooler than a regular year? It’s hot behind these masks!
I know it saves lives, and I saved the world by almost dying in my mask, but thank you for letting me vent anyway! |
But it doesn't.
Read an actual research paper.

Im not even kidding.
Write up a document that says that in the event that you/your loved one catches it, you waive all hospital care.
Go ahead.
ETA as a nurse I am very curious about how we "know how to treat it". Maybe you'd like to enlighten my medical team. We may know an itsy bit more than we did 3 months ago, but that really isnt saying much.
All that we now "know" for certain is that we were idiots for not masking up |
Uhmmmmm let's see
HCQ which doctors are shouting from the rooftops
(together with zinc, in proper doses, at the correct time, and the one study that everyone loves to quote was bungled and retracted not that you'll see that anywhere)
3rd world countries have fewer deaths than USA bc they take it like candy there

Hydroxychloroquine is great. But actually, we were using it to treat our covid patients way back in the beginning of the pandemic, as soon as trump and dr zelenko publicized it.
I do credit it with saving many of my patients' lives. But I cant tell you how many we lost. So no, practically, its not really such a new treatment. We used it in the beginning.

You just have to love those people who read a few articles and now they are smarter than the doctors.

Doctors HAVE to parrot whatever the CDC (government) says - or they will lose their license.
There are doctors who don't vaccinate their own children, but MUST vaccinate their patients.
There is no medical freedom in this country.

Isn't it odd....
...that masks only stop the spread of virus if everybody wears one
....that vaccines only work if everyone gets vaccinated.
Until we got "educated" everyone believed that masks protect the wearer
and vaccines protect the one injected.

A condom with a hole is no better than no condom...

Totally different thing.
If you were to say a mask had an opening by the mouth, I'd agree.
But droplets can be transmitted via the nose or mouth, 2 different orifices.
Unless someone sneezes, most are being exhaled through the mouth via talking, singing, coughing, etc
So while there are definitely droplets that can come from the nose, it's less likely to transmit enough to infect others than it is to do so via the mouth.
Wearing a mask only covering the mouth isn't legal and doesn't give a much protection as wearing it correctly over the nostrils as well, but it IS doing a significant amount of the work creating a barrier that most droplets won't be emitted into the air.

Except you can still get pregnant, and still get AIDS, if you use a condom with a hole in it.
So....if you are having consensual sx with someone and they are okay with the fact that your condom has a hole - that's great, go for it.
If you want to do the same with a mask, you'd better be asking every single person around you if they're okay with your choice to compromise the protection you're legally required to provide them with. Because compromising the efficacy of masks - and condoms - requires consent from BOTH parties involved, not just one.

Unless you spend your entire mask-wearing time talking, singing, coughing, etc., you are breathing through your nose as well. If you wear your mask under your nose, there is nothing to hold it to your face when you sneeze or cough, so who knows whether droplets will fly out or not.
(I’m not really a mask wearer in the first place, but I do it when I have to, like when I go to a store. However, I try to avoid places that need masks as much as possible, because as less uncomfortable as cotton masks are, they’re still not so comfortable.)

So the only real truth is in the right wing media?
Look at how some small countries got the virus under control! They wore masks!!!
Do front line grocery store employees have to die so that customers can shop in complete comfort? That was what was happening!
Look at all the deaths of various Frontline workers from police to prison guards and decide that they are not entitled to protection!
I do agree that stores should have the right to insist on masks, even when the government doesn't enforce it. That's also part of being a free country and if that makes me a sheeple because I don't take my medical advice from right wing media, then baa baa baa....

After a few weeks of not being able to go shopping, I finally felt that it was safe enough to venture out but I don't want to go to crowded stores where most people are not wearing masks.
The right wing media will find right wing doctors who will prioritize the economy over the safety of the people and they will tell the public that, just as they don't stop living due to the flu, they should carry on like everything is normal because if they get sick, it's simple! Just take hydroxychloroquine! But even where the use of the drug is not restricted, people still have to pay for the visit to the doctor because America is not giving this care for free. I wonder if lack of ability to pay is the reason why some people delay seeking medical treatment at the point where hydroxychloroquine works best.
Are these right wing doctors giving free care to the uninsured? Is it only left wing big pharma that wants to get paid?

Most people aren't sneezing, and if they are, maybe they should stay home. Most people end up talking at some point while shopping. I'm not advocating not wearing it properly, just that it's incorrect to say that wearing it over the mouth is totally useless. It gives protection from mouth droplets, but not nose droplets.
And this is not about me, as I always wear masks where required.
