I look like I could be a kallah but I actually am going to have an empty house this fall. Small family. I want to know if I should be wearing a shorter sheitel. I don’t want to look so off out with my DH. I need advice on what I should be wearing.

You should wear a short sheitel when you like it.
And meanwhile, you can make jokes about how DH is your father/uncle whenever you go out, and how you just graduated college. XD

Wear what you are comfortable With.
I wear shorter shaitels because of comfort and ease of caring. I tried longer ones and don’t think they flatter my face.

I want to wear a shorter sheitel for the care and comfort but I’m worried it would look off for my face.

Meanwhile DS is highly annoyed to be seen with me knowing what will be asked. DH is very fit but half bald and grey.

I actually don’t like long sheitels they fly around rub against my neck get stuck in my coats on and on. There’s nothing wrong with a short sheitel. To find a style you like ask your sheitel macher if you can try in different styles etc.

Can someone link or post photos of something I could try with a shorter style. I plan to book with a new sheitel macher soon.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with wearing a long sheitel if you are comfortable wearing one. I don’t think you should wear a shorter one just because you think you “should” at this stage of life. I am nearly 50 and still enjoy wearing long sheitels.

I have an opposite problem, I want to wear a really short sheitel but noone really makes them. Everything I see is advertised for grandmas or looks really stiff.

You should tell him that there is only a two-year difference between me and DH, but that people have mistaken him for my father because of how tired and grim he often looks. My FIL (grey-to-white hair) has also been mistaken for my husband when we went out to eat with DS.
It's not you, or him. It's just random opinions of society at large. DS can keep growling if he chooses, but that's his deal.

You could try on synthetics for style. I have found that sheitel machers have longer ones that they’ll cut, but not much to try on. I wasn’t comfortable with that risk. If you have a friend with a short sheitel, ask if you could try it on.

Why don’t you start with cutting your current sheitel a couple of inches shorter and see how you feel. A lot of women do this anyways worn older sheitels since it cuts off the dead ends and lengthens they life. You don’t have to jump from long to shoulder there’s a lot of in between.

It also depends on what you are wearing..
If I wear a very matronly conservative outfit, a shoulder length goes nicely with it.
What really looks ridiculous, is a woman over 50, dressed almost exactly like her HS daughter.
Both wearing a blue buttom down shirt and a-line skirt.
Almost like they are both wearing a uniform..

Thank you so much for posting those. I like the shorter in back idea.
Can I wear bangs with glasses? I have never worn bangs.
