My kids have some books called malkele and yossele which come in yiddish. There is more than 2 words on each page though.

Try calling bookshops in stamford hill - lots of ppl there speak yiddish.

I don't know if they have it there in England but we love the Matzlichim series. Nice colorful pictures, very simple stories, about $4.99 a book, there are about 8 of them in the series. The last page is English translation for each page.
We change a few of the nekudos, but it's no big deal.

unfortunately the malky & yossele books are out of print now. but there is a new line of books, yiddish words with one word per page and a picture next to it. or there are these huge $40 books that have almost no words and huge pictures.s he should get to a seforim store like eichlers and browse.

There is a great book, probably the one that MamaBear is talking about. It's really big and has laminated pages. It's about $40, but worth every penny. Each page is another theme (I.e. kitchen, playground, zoo, actions, etc.) There are real pictures - not drawings and underneath each one it says the word in Yiddish. My kids love it, and we all learned so many new words from it.

I searched on the internet, and I can't seem to find it, but it's called "1000 Yiddish Verter" - 1000 Yiddish Words.

I'm sure that any good bookstore in Stamford Hill should sell it.

Thanks - that's it! I guess I should've checked the title first! Anyways, it's a great investment.
