I have a very narrow kitchen drawer (6" x 19") that I'd like to use for cutlery but I can't seem to find any organizers small enough for it. Any ideaas?

HOw bad would it be to just throw all the silverware in there together?
Maybe look for drawer seperators - buy 2 so you have 3 sections. The kind (shaped like an "I") that stretch from back to front (I don't know where you can buy them but I did see it in a baby item magazine once)

Well, I wouldn't recommend just throwing all into the drawer. A)It would be annoying and in a mess and B) it would be a pain to sort through on shabbos - with borer and all that.
How about getting one of those stand up things to put on the counter like they have in Israel?

so I know someone who bought those long stick things and said that they're junk- they keep snapping out of place. And, I think the holder is a good idea but I don't have any counter-space although I do have this drawer...

What about getting a cheap utensil holder made of plastic of mesh, and cutting the walls off on both sides to make it fit? That way, the drawer sides will take the place of the missing walls on the reg. utensil tray. You can get them for 99 cents at a junk store and cut with a exacto knife.

I do think I might be a little more adventurous than some but I like to make things. If I had a similiar drawer, I would make dividers out of thick cardboard with bottom compartments, glue, staple or duct tape together and cover with contact paper if I wanted it pretty. It really shouldn't be too difficult and is definitely cheaper than anything from the container store. At least this way, you could measure it exactly for the drawer.
Actually, I do have a drawer upstairs in my bathroom that needs dividers. I guess I know what I'm doing today...

I use these in almost all my drawers. They work great, I have never had any problems with them. They really help my kids keep their things organized. The only problem with them in a cutlery drawer is that you can't keep them too close together. You may not get as many sections as you need.

Thanks guys! I think I'm going to splurge on this: http://www.containerstore.com/.....78846
This way, I know that I'll have enough compartments and that the knives will fit (they're longer then the 9" containers posted earlier...)

You know, I may try cutting down a 99 cent one first... :-)
