we have about a week off to head to somewhere in the US this summer but we don't know where to go. Prefer mid-west or east coast with kosher food and activities for older children. Not looking for a resort or a hotel but a city or destination.
Thanks

St Louis has the arch. There's Cahokia across the river in Illinois. And a beautiful stage theater called the fabulous Fox, rich even if no shows does yours... Oh and they have an kosher food truck

What experience has your family already had? What have they enjoyed?
Would you want something similar and a "sure thing" or a very different experience so that the opportunity is more experiential?

What about New York/NYC?
Or Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Virginia Beach
Delaware has great state parks.

If you want readily available kosher food, Chicago would be my top choice - lots of restaurant options and shuls, plus there's Willis/Sears Tower, Shedd Aquarium, the Bean/Millennium Park, Navy Pier, Cubs game, Museum of Science and Industry, zoo (free).
Colorado is amazing if you're willing to stock up in Denver when you fly in and then go explore the beautiful state.
Atlanta is also great - a few restaurant options, Coca-Cola factory tour with unlimited tasting at the end (ask about kashrus, as only certain flavors are okay) is a hit with all ages, and the aquarium is amazing, though a week might be pushing it
If you're willing to go farther west, look into Seattle or Vancouver - both have great activities and kosher restaurant options

Thanks for the ideas. We have family in NY, Chicago and Atlanta so those are all BTDT. Anyone have details on Colorado, where to eat, stay and things to do?

Still with the Zika? I live in south FL. I never heard of anyone getting Zika. Better chance to be struck by lightning.

In Colorado, the kosher food is in Denver, where you'll fly into. Stock up there and then head off to see lots of natural beauty. There's Estes Park (gateway to Rocky Mountain NP), Colorado Springs, Vail, Aspen, Glenwood Springs, plus Great Sand Dunes NP and Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP, and then in the southwest you have Ouray, Telluride, and Mesa Verde (probably our favorite, but really far from Denver).
It's a big state and you can't see it all in 1 week (we've been to all these places in the past 10 years, but in 3 different trips), but choose 1-2 places that appeal to you and go enjoy them.
