Sequoia, is there any way you can get tests done in the US, at a major teaching hospital, rather than in Ukraine? Imaging tests can be wrong. It has happened to me. Please make sure you get the best care.
I’m davening, as always, for a refuah sheleimah for you.

It’s the same equipment. Same MRI machine as is used in America.
And I’m sure the radiologist is qualified.
But I can email the images.
Right now I am unable to do anything except cry.

Sequoia, equipment does differ in sensitivity. Absolutely. And radiologists can be wrong. I had a simple ultrasound done last year that a radiologist badly misread. Two subsequent ultrasounds, and different doctors reading them, contradicted her findings, luckily for me.
I don’t know what the rate of false positives is for MRIs for whatever they’re checking for, but you should try to find out.
Don’t give up. Get the best care possible.
Can I ask you: why did you have the MRI done in Ukraine?

Because I was hoping my symptoms were psychosomatic, and I’d feel better here, on vacation, away from everyday life.
They are not.
So I finally stopped the avoidance, went to the doctor, and she told me to get an MRI immediately. Saw her again today and we discussed the results.

I understand why you had the MRI there. But now you need to focus on fixing the problem that was found as best as you can. This means researching who is best equipped to deal with this. This is not just an issue of US vs Ukraine; this is an issue of finding the best doctors for this condition. Within the US there’s a huge difference in quality of doctors. You need to hunt around and find out. Do not despair. Focus on moving forward.
(Edited to remove a rogue apostrophe. I hate autocorrect!)

I'm with Joy. If you can't get the care you need in the Ukraine, as nourishing an environment as it may have seemed to be, go where the care is best.
You've written before about the beauty of the Ukraine and what it means to you. Hey, even chazal talk about the chein hamakom of where we spent our formative years, the years that made us who we are. It's possible that your difficulties with your roommates are going to make the disconnecting and going back to the US easier; can you go home again? Who knows? But we wish you the best shlichim, wherever you get treatment, and just maybe since there's a critical mass of us here, we'll be able to be of practical help too. (Of course, davening is great practical help and crucial before and during and beyond. But there's more to be done.)

Saw the neurologist today. She was more encouraging and recommended physical therapy every single day, which she said ought to help over time. She also prescribed a low-dose anti-anxiety med.
Basically, she said in this situation it’s mostly up to me and my commitment to physiotherapy.
Kiev is beautiful and cool and has a salutary effect.

I wish you the strength to be committed to physiotherapy, and that it should be effective!
I am happy you are in a beautiful place during a difficult time.
You are constantly in our hearts, and our prayers, dear Sequoia.
