I've been searching for months with no luck. It's so frustrating! It's not on Amazon or any used online bookstore. The local stores never even heard of it, which is strange to me because so many of our plays were based on this story when I was a kid.

Can someone who is more online savvy than me please help me find it?

Now I'm remembering a bit about this book. Is it appropriate for a 13 year old?

I'm pretty sure it was reprinted within the last couple of years.

I enjoyed the book and the plays based on it as a kid, but I thought when I read it that it was based on true historical facts. Just for the record, it's complete fiction, not historical fiction.

Just be aware, the reprinted copy may have been edited. I bought the recently republished book The Twins by the same author, and several sections/paragraphs had been taken out. Basically any reference to rape or male/female relationships. The result was a very choppy book that had a disconnected plot. And it was so unnecessary.

I first read it as a seven or eight year old, and a lot of that went over my head. I reread it a few years later, and those poignant plot points clicked into place for me, but it was done in a very respectful and dignified way, so I didn't over think it.

That said, yes, his books are all fiction.
