SI residents get a big discount on the Verrazzano bridge crossing. And anybody can sign up for a car-pool plan that gives you a nice discount when crossing from NJ into SI at the Goethals or Outerbridge if you have 3+ in your car. Not sure the total cost, since I use EZ-Pass, which also saves a bit.

Download the app tollguru or check the site online. You can input your destination and it will tell you how much tolls will cost and approximate gas.

The cost is very much dependent on the state tat issued your EZ pass.
Jersey residents with NJ issued ez pass do not get any discounts except maybe for turnpike in non peak hours.
With NY ez pass, you have different options and plans to bring down the cost.
You can get NY ez pass even if you live in NJ.

Do you know the cost with a NY E-ZPass?

Verrazano is $12.24 as opposed to $19 for everyone else. SI residents are $5.50. The rest of SI bridges are $6.25 if you make 3 or more trips in a month. You will have to sign up for the SI bridges plan. There used to be a commuter plan as well. It is probably still exists. You can find info on ez pass site. There’s also plan for car pools.
