At least 49 people were massacred in mosques in NZ... at least one shooter was identified as a white supremacist from Australia who was active on alt right forums and published an anti Muslim, anti immigrant manifesto online.
Very scary and very tragic...

Even more scary is that Australia boasts some of the most progressive gun control laws on Earth.

This happened in New Zealand, not Australia.

This is such a perfect example of the cowardice of terrorism. How hard is it to massacre a group of innocent unarmed people engaged in their prayer. Just showing up and murdering civilians. How could anybody be that depraved?

Yes, actually New Zealand's gun laws are considered less stringent than those in much of the world (excluding the US), and most firearms need not be registered.
The death toll from this attack alone is 40% greater than the 35 who died from homicide in New Zealand in all of 2017.

AIUI, while the shooter was Australian, the incident occurred in New Zealand.

There are other factors besides for gun laws that go into these statistics. This is not a proof that strict gun laws don't work to reduce gun deaths.

Evil. Pure evil.
The fact that this happened the week of shabbos zachor... these terrorists are the spiritual heirs of Amalek.
