UGGs are also part of the cruel wool industry. Just buy fake.

You don't own anything made out of wool? What about your husband's suits? Do you wear leather shoes? Are you vegan?

I try not to buy anything out of wool, but I am not fanatic about it, so I may have something I didnt notice.
My husband doesnt own even one suit, lol (and are they made of wool anyway? )
I am vegetarian, not vegan, although some of my adult kids are vegan. I have health issues and not sure if veganism would work, though I may try one day.
I do wear leather shoes, at my age and with my feet I need the best I can get. If I could find a non leather alternative I would buy.
I am not the ideal animal rights rep, as you can see. But I think people should keep animal welfare in mind and make good choices whenever at all possible. This will vary by person.

The sheepskin is wool but the boots and shoes are leather.

I was responding to the 'cruel wool industry.'

OP here. I just did a Google search, and it appears that this Ugg-shatnez issue has been going on for several years unbeknownst to me. If I have my boots tested for shatnez, they'll get ruined even if they don't have wool in them. I'm going to call up a shatnez laboratory.

Last time I brought in boots to be checked the man looked at them and told me these do not have to be tested. They were short leather booties.

I don’t own anything made out of wool. It makes me break out. I can’t even use lanolin, which is derived from wool bearing animals.

Latest is that rabbi sayegh of lakewood who oversees many of the Shatnez testers world wide is waiting to hear back from Uggs. Until then he recommends not wearing any Uggs. He hopes to hear by monday or tuesday.
My husband is a shatnez tester in the midwest.

We sent dd's uggsboots and the insoles of her uggs rain boots for checking. Bh both are not shatnez.
I've heard only some of their boots are. Of course it needs to be checked.
