Did anyone else have amazing things happen this yom tov?

A. I was nervous because I brought my mother with me...

But it was hashgacha protis that she was with me. Just so happens that the other family staying by the house had a young girl that was completely blind. My mother teaches the blind, and then we came to findout they have the exact same english birthday!

B"H my mother had a very nice time, and to her shock and surprise. The little girl's father, very frum chassidish (satmar) man, thanked her for helping his wife. I guess it opened her eyes that these people are nice and can be respectful if you give them a chance to get to know you.

After that we went to visit my great aunt, and she has not ever met my children. She admitted to me that she was worried my children would be wild as she knew that I am orthodox and chabad at that! B"H my children were on their best behavior, and she was very impressed at how I am with them and how sweet they are K"H Smile

So this weekend was quite wonderful...any other stories?

So nice to hear that your weekend worked out nicely, MM!! Very Happy

My mother invited us for Yom Kippur and I feel that it was real hasgacha pratis that we decided to take her up on her offer. (We do not usually go away!!) My fast was more difficult than any other fast I've ever experienced (must've been the nursing...), so I really wouldn't have been able to take care of the baby without her help... B"H it all worked out ok!

your miscarriage may have been a small soul only needing to be alive for a short amount of time, with the zechut of returning to the aybeshter on the holiest day of the year.
you must be a special person for this little neshama to have picked you to be his mom.
having said that. I vintsh you only the most happiest of simchas in the future, with much nacahs and gezunt, for generations to come.

I am usually a terrible faster, I have fainting spells, nausea and crazy headaches. This year I decided to do something special - I made a Taanis Dibbur. Believe it or not, I got a special Bracha from hashem, I fasted soo well... I was not hungry,not weak, no headaches and I felt better than any other day of the week! Best of all I got to sit in shul a whole day and daven all the tefillos with all the concentration! (although I don't think it has any connection with the tannis dibbur Wink

)

You may want to tell it to your rav if next YK you are pregnant again.

Fasting does not cause a miscarriage.
It can put you into early labor if you're at the end of your pregnancy, but it sure won't cause an early miscarriage, if its a healthy and viable pregnancy.

To OP, I'm so sorry you had to deal with that on YK.

My mashpia called me erev yom kippur reminding me that yom kippur is also a time to forgive myself and let go of the guilt for something HUGE we had been discussing for a while-I was warmed and touched!
To those of you who don't have a mashpia, you do not know what you are missing!

On the first day of Rosh Hashanah, I took my kids to far-away park in the morning. At first I thought that I'll come back to listen to shofar at our shul at 11:30 , but then kids were playing nicely, so I decided to stay in the park and go for the afternoon shofar. My six year old daughter was upset that we missed shofar, so I promised to take her with me in the afternoon. After we a seuda, all my kids, dh and I went for a nap. Dh woke me up minutes to six, screaming to get dress and run or I'll miss the shofar, there was no time to wake and dress my daughter so I run to shul by myself. When I came back, my dd was very upset, but we talked about how she will go to the shul tomorrow with Tatty, and she will be there for a very long time, and she will get to hear shofar, and she felt better. Minutes later, I walk into my room, and I hear sounds of a shofar. I could not fugure out where they are coming from, we are the only frum people in our Flatbush building, and there are no shuls directly on our block. Then I looked out of the window and I see two bochurim, probably Chabad, blowing shofar, on a sidewalk next to our building for a couple. I called my dd and she heard almost the whole thing. She was so happy, she said , " You see Mommy, Hashem knew I needed to hear shofar so He sent someone right next to our house!" Very Happy

It's not something that exist everywhere.

As for my amazing things, I realized trying to befriend the ladies at shul was not the way to go, but I should befriend their daughters although they are a few years younger than I am. And it worked, they saw the many common points and interests behind the "frum look" and now we're good acquaintances. But oy did it take time.
