What do you do in the Elevator??

I actually find the "waiting" for the elevator to be most uncomfortable.
so how to pass the time? thank goodness I can always run off to the side and pretend I'm checking if I got mail (the mailboxes are pretty close to the elevator). but thats only where I live.

Now what do you do when you're riding in the elevator youself (no mirror in this elev) & you're pregnant & adjusting your top/skirt in a non flattering manner when boom, door opens & in walks your neighbor embarrassed

.
Then you're even more embarrassed

because you remember that the elevator has surveillance cameras & you're on screen in the managements office embarrassed

Depending on the situation, either say hi, ignore them, or chat (if I know them and want to).

The only reason you feel awkward is because you prob aren't confident. If you work on your confidence there is no reason to feel awkward.

I smile at whoever’s there and look away. Or make small talk. If I have a baby with me or I’m pregnant I graciously accept the compliments and well-meaning comments. If someone else had a baby I’ll smile at it but I won’t mention anything if someone else is pregnant because that’s not what I do.

Then I read the signs in the elevator about maximum capacity and what to do in an emergency.

As the elevator moves I picture it from the outside gong up and down a dark, deep shaft, suspended by cables.

I wonder what would happen if I got stuck in the elevator. If there are other people in there with me, would we bond? Panic? Who has food? How long will there be air?

I remember the opening scenes from the movie Speed. Before the bus drama, there was an elevator drama. Pretty intense.

By the time I’m done thinking about all these things I’m usually at my floor.

This reminds me of something that happened when I was a kid, like 8 or 9. My mom and I were waiting for an elevator. The doors open and this guy steps out, sees us waiting there, and he gives us this shifty kind of look and then ran away really quickly. We get in the elevator, the doors close, and we are suddenly assaulted by the smell. Now we knew why the guy gave us a weird look and was in a such a hurry to get away LOL

My mom and I still laugh about that one.

She must be stuck in an elevator as we haven't heard from her yet Sad

eta- yikes! she's probably on the way to visit me & got stuck somewhere between the 5'th & 6th floor shock
