You might find it helpful to study the machzor BEFORE Yom Tov, than to try to scramble to read the English whilst actually at shul.
Then you have a better chance of both quality and quantity.
A Gutt Yor.

Right. Same thing for the Siddur. Or the Hagaddah, actually.

hm crying - try having a hard life finding your tefilos begging Hashem for an easier one for life and health and sustenance - for your children for the world ... how can you not cry at any given opportunity for such prayer - not just on yom kippur ...

I get the feeling you are insinuating my life is easy-breezy. Believe me, I've had my share of hardships. The truth is, it's possible that I used up my tears when I was going through my years of Hell, and now that things are B"H so much better, I'm just not as emotional as it used to be. That's kind of sad though.

Yakira why are you surprised that people cry? When you're actually standing judgement and you know that your fate for the coming year is being decided right now, well to me that's pretty emotional and scary and would make sense to bring tears to one's eyes, making us beg Hashem to spare us the tzaros and only give us good, having real charatah for the aveiros and trying to do teshuvah especially since this posuk is usually on my mind "teshuva tefillah tzedaka maavirin es roah hagezeirah".
The parts of davening where we are being mamlich Hashem as king, well that might not be so emotional for most but I guess those people are already in the emotional mood and everything seems emotional then.

If you go through the machzor, most of the davening is not about how I, personally am being judged. It's about klal yisrael as a whole, and much more so, crowning Hashem as melech. The only real points where I understand tears, and have been known to cry myself is by unesaneh tokef, which specifically talks about who will die and who will live and how. And Avinu Malkeinu and Neilah.

Especially during tefillos that are talking about crowning Hashem as Melech or blowing the shofar. HOw is that an emotional tefila?

Davenning that Hashem should be Melech is one of the most emotional parts of RH and YK. It is also the main thing to daven for.

Just to think that there will be a reality when everyone will recognize Him and worship only Him. That all the false movements and wicked people will be gone and everyone will know the Truth.

Hm. That's very nice, but I don't understand how it is emotional. Maybe I'm understanding it differently, and feel that I am being mamlich him right now, even before mashiach comes, and it's more amazing and awesome than it is sad.

"Whoever doesn't cry during these days (Aseres Ymei Teshuva), his neshomoh is not complete". the Arizal.

Intteresting. Does he say how much crying needs to be done or how real the tears have to be? Is crying just once OK? Is that all you need to ensure that your neshama is complete? I'd be interested to hear some more about this chazal.

I think one of the posters mentioned that once you get into the crying mood, it's easier to cry at other things to, even if it's not as sad or emotional. I guess that does make some sense.

the one thing I can't satnd is either women faking or telling you what to do. at kol nidrei, I saw they yerushalmi women shokelig 100 mph and covering their faces trying to cry, I dunno, I think if you can't cry don't cry just don't fake yourself.

Then yesterday this lady come to me and say " you have to cry by the parhsa of the death of Aharon's sons and if you do it's a segula for great children or what ever" I said to myself, thank you, I'm not on the level as you are, if you want to you do it, but don't go telling other's to be on your madreiga. well she might have had a good life and nothing to cry for, I unfortuanately have had enough to cry for in my life that I don't need others to tell me when to cry and be higher that I am.

After being rather unemotional for most of the davening that I was there, I became very overcome at Avinu Mallkeinu - the first one all Yom Kippur and the tears kept coming until the shofar was blown and l'shana hab'aah b'yerushalayim. It actually felt very good to cry, I don't remember the last time I did on Y"K.

It's from the Ari hakadosh z"l. We came across a sicha from the Lubavitcher Rebbe explaining it, and saying that this adage even applies to a tzaddik! Unfortunately didn't have time(?) to learn the sicha inside. It's in vol. 4. can't promise, but if I look it up, I'll post. bl"n.
