It's Sunday so I can't reach anyone at the OK... wondering if anyone knows whether Eden canned beans (including their baked beans) are bishul yisroel? Trying to find out for a particular reason in the next few hours... but interested after that too.

Thanks!!!!!!

I was at a shiur with one of the OK rabbis and he said he'd look into it - they're not bishul akum, at any rate.

At one of the Kashrus seminars years ago our Rav said canned beans has to be bishul Yisrael.

I thought that only referred to cakes and breads ...

Let me clarify. I understand that canned beans need to be bishul yisroel. My question is whether Eden brand, certified by the OK, is bishul yisroel.

Greenfire - pas yisroel is for baked goods; bishul is for cooked.

If they're not bishul akum, doesn't that mean they're bishul yisroel? Or is there some other possible status? (OP here)

CM, would it be too much trouble for you to just post the answer here? Maybe it would help someone else, too. You seem to know something about it. I'm especially interested in the bishul akum vs. bishul yisroel vs. some other possibility??

If possible, just post the answer here. I'm off to a BBQ in a little whlle and hoping to find out about the Eden baked beans....... CM or anyone?
