According to my Rav it is ok to get it styled/set during 3 weeks, but not the 9 days...

It is permitted to have a (small, simple) l'chaim or simple bar mitzvah "celebration" on the bo bayom of the boy.

op here -

the truth is that I have a wedding the night after tisha b'av - the mother of the kallah is one of my best friends - she said I should call the sheitel macher and book her for the first appointment after chatzos (like she doesn't have any laundry to do...).

that's what I get for putting it off!

Which is what I think l'chaim's and bar mitzva celebrations ought to be year round - small and simple.

Our rav said that you could NOT fix your sheital during the 9 days. That means washing and cutting. If you have a wedding on Wednesday night, ask a rav.
It would be nice if everyone followed Moteks suggestion about small l'chaims and bar mitzvahs, however it looks to me that the entire Crown Hts economy would fail chas v'sholem, if that were to happen. The clothing stores on Kingston thrive on emergency clothing purchases such as for l'chaims.

Wow, I think this is first time I can say;
I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU, MOTEK.

I would also add (as I'm sure you would) weddings, brisses, and other simchas to that list.
