My husband has Crohn's and the doctor just keeps adding more and more dangerous medications and doesn't believe that food/diet has anything to do with the disease. . He's in a lot of pain, and we're desperate to try something else. Heard that a lot of people had success with the SC Diet, but don't know where to start. Should we try gluten-free first, or go straight to the SC Diet? How to start the SC Diet? He can't tolerate any fibrous foods such as raw fruits/veggies at this point. Went to a dietitian and she didn't provide any more info than the internet did.
I know in Israel there is someone who works as a consultant just for this diet and helps make a personalized plan. Is there anyone in the USA who does something similar? We need some guidance - too afraid to try this on our own.

The first step is buying rhe book Breaking The Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gloria Gottschall. It takes you through it step by step.
If you want someone to help you, the owner of Wellebees does this and charges.

The diet worked well for my husband as well. It's a lot of work so you need to be prepared for that.
(Most) Doctors don't believe in the diet and won't take your DH off his meds right away and he may still need the meds for a while.
Like Ra mom said, speak with the owner of wellbees. She does consultation and I believe we consulted with her a few years back.

I am on the diet. you need to start by following the book. buy yourself a copy, don't borrow. you will need it for reference quite frequently in the beginning. Wellbees.com sells kosher baked goods and ingredients for the SCD (one or two things are not under hechsher, read descriptions carefully), and the owner does consults. there are a number of us on this site, so feel free to reach out for help. I am happy to help you via private message. I've been on the diet for 8 years. if you're on Facebook, there are a number of support groups there. no question is stupid, so ask EVERYTHING.
wishing your husband the best of health.

I dont know if its the SC diet or not- I do know that my friend, who had struggled with severe crohns for years, went on a very weird diet for about 2 years-there was a lady in new square promoting it and who sold baked goods that were consistent with the diet.
Either way, whatever this diet was, it totally worked, she has no more crohns at all for the past 5 years.

The diet is fantastic. My dh is on it for 2.5 years and b'h doing great!! You must get a copy of the book mentioned above. You can check out the pecanbread website too, for more helpful information but do realize that the stages of the diet on that website are not officially scd. They are their own made up recommendations.
I'd be very happy to help you get started, you can pm me. If you're thinking of getting in touch with the lady from Wellbee's, please message me before you call her.
