I always make rice crispies trats - easy as could be - my kids help with it so they feel part of the mitzvah and excitement...and always devoured. My DH says he usually doesn't even get to eat them at shalom zachors, becasue by the time he sits down to eat something they are all gone.

I make this every time I bake for a simcha. I've been making it for years. It looks nice when cut up, it's very good, and it's not hard.

Hungarian Brownie:

1 bag choc. chips

Dough:
1 stick marg.
1 egg
2 T. orange juice
1 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder

Top:
1 stick marg. melted
2 eggs
3/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. chopped walnuts

mix ingredients for dough. Spread out dough to cover bottom of greased 9x13 pan (very thin layer). push it up the sides a drop because it will shrink. Bake for 10 minutes.
Pour choc. chips on hot dough and spread until they melt and cover the dough evenly. Mix ingredients for top and pour over chocolate layer. Bake for 35 minutes.

the thing is that the mother either will just have given birth and shouldn't be working hard, or its up to the husband to put everything thing out.

. I think the biggest chessed is sending the mezonos or veggie platter or whatever it is, ready to serve.

yes and don't worry about the beer the men never forget that ... a chickpea salad is a custom I believe for a sholom zochor ... chips & salsa or guacamole is good too ...

it's primarily a male affair so think cakes.
u cna use a base recipe and variate it so u are actually givng a few types. I.e. a brownie so u can have many types
or a yeast dough wiht differnet fillings.....

whatever it is it's most helpful when it's prepared ready to put on the table.
