Hi!
I know that many times people ask for cookbooks recomendations. But I need an advice. I want to buy one for a gift, I am searching for a book with many: salads, kugels, desserts. With very common ingredients and delicious results.
I live in a place were we don't have many kosher things.... many cookbooks calls for many special things like miso, balsamic vinager, etc. (Things that we don't have).
The women I want to gave her the book she already have Spcie And Spirit.
Thank you in advanced!

The Bais Yakov cookbook is my choice for down-to-earth, never going to let me down recipes. Very few recipes call for exotic ingredients, and when they do, they always give a substitution.
I have more of my "go-to" recipes from that cookbook than any other I own.

In my experience the most practical and delicious recipes come from either The Bais Yaakov Cookbook or Fresh and Easy by Leah Schapira - both of those books are super winners in my opinion!

I think I'm going to get Balebusta's choice 2. If it's similar to BY cookbook, it's probably good too.

I'm not familiar with any of the above cookbooks but the spice and spirit of kosher cooking is used almost every week in my house. And I live somewhere where nothing is available either. Very comprehensive, many wonderful recipes. Like 4 types of chocolate cake, several versions of cholent, kugel etc.

Two cookbooks I'll never be without:
The Moosewood Vegetarian cookbook
James Beard, Bread Book
If you have those two, you can do just about anything!

Hahaha I live in south america.... hahaha. Sometimes we have... but almost all year around we don't . Here you need to go chasing all kosher products.
We have products "OU" that are sold in every supermarket, like soy sauce, sesame oil etc but not many things
