An update:
the appeal was made to shorten the sentence to 5 years with 3 year trial period.
This means that my mother is guilty, but if she 'behaves' for 3 years she will not have to go to prison.
I do not understand who made such appeal and why, but this is how it is.
She will not be able to leave the country, she will have to report to police regularly, and her permit to work in her field will be revoked (which means no job).
My mother and her lawyers will still try to prove that she is not guilty.
I really hope that Adar & Nissan - time of triumph and freedom, combined with our tefilos, will help my mother.

do you mean she will get house arrest?
this is insane! do you mind sharing the country she lives in? maybe it will be useful to know, so that other resources could be put in action.

an update:
there were 2 articles published in the local press about this case, which is good, because now the judges will be more scared.
On the other hand, my mother had named some people, one of whom is like a senator in the US, and I am scared of a possible revenge.
My mother is accused of \'squandering\' of about $1000
More hearings are scheduled.
I shall keep you posted.
Thanks again, everybody.

An update -
things are improoving, Baruh Hashem!
The appeal was today - 7 yrs were cancelled, and now it\'s 5 yrs conditionally, without the right to leave the country permanently.
Temporary visits are allowed with the supervising cop\'s permission (an mercy)
My parents are appealing this verdict as well, because if this decision remains final, my mother will lose her permit and income, which is vital to the family.
Please, keep on davening!
Thank you.

not to leave the country at all for life?!?!?! what type of law is that and can someone really make such a 'decree' on the person I could understand for five years can't leave the country but for life?

Glad things are improving!
Amother, did you mean she can't leave the country for life, or for the duration of the sentence only?

Sounds like she meant that she can't leave the country on a permanent basis for these five years. How can they stop her from leaving permanently? Will she have to leave a hostage if she goes away for a visit?
We have to continue davening, I think.

thank you, everybody.
Sarahd is correct - it is only for the duration of the 5 years.
And we still need your tefilos, as there are 2 more cases against my mother.
If she looses even one of them, she will lose her work permit
(and she is one of the top specialists in the country in her field )
My mother\'s name, again, is
Lina bas Sima-Feiga
