How often do you have guests for a Shabbat meal? Every week? Both meals on Shabbat? Once a month? And also, how would you describe yourself within the Orthodox world (e.g. MO, centrist orthodox, Lubavitch, Satmar, etc.)? We have guests very often, more than (I think) most people in our community, but it is pretty much our only time to socialize with other families.

Only when we have guests who happen to be there for the week end too... family or foreign friends, or from other areas.... my friends are in other towns or not Jewish. In my community people don't really invite each other.

me Mo- dh "plain" Orthodox

we're litvish, and have guests almost every shabbas, sometimes both meals and sometimes just one, my dd doesn't eat that much and its so frustrating making an entire shabbas for two people, so we really enjoy having guests, all the time, I think the two things that make it so possible are:

freezer
dishwasher

We have guests for one meal (usually lunch) almost every shabbos, and have sleepover guests 1-2 times a month. We try very hard to have a "just family" shabbos meal every shabbos we aren't having sleepover company. We are "right wing YU" type (although I hate labels), and DH is a Rav in a shul, so it is a given that we have guests.

We're Litvish.
We have one guests who comes almost every Shabbos (a bochur) for all 3 meals.
Other than that, we have others guests every few weeks or even less often.

On Shabbosim, I fed high school boys for many many years - 16 to be exact - until my son left for Israel and my daughter really was too old to have a mixed table like that any more.

We would occ. have families for yomtov.

Now, at this point in our lives, we're tired to have guests on Friday nights, and Shabbos day we eat in shul. So the only guests we hve are occasional; and generally only if someone needs a place.

We have guests every meal that we are home on shabbos. The exceptions are right before pesach and right after I had my son and similar situations.

because we live in Flatbush where most people don't hold from the eiruv, it's not really possible for us to have over families or for us to be invited our further than next door. Smile That's why we usually have a bochur, single girl or couple.
