ok as you know I'm a former brit living in israel. my nephew is getting married soon in london and my sister in law told me she is wearing 2 things a suit to the chuppa (afternoon) and a gown for the evening, as an aunt what should I do since I live in israel and not there. any former brits what do you have to say what would you do?? I also don't want to schlepp too much.

Yes, in the UK. We have the family photos right after the chuppa, so everyone is in their gowns. There is no time to change for the family.

But others may do differently.

2 siblings got married in the UK, wore gowns to teh whole thing.
I have heard of people doing what u mentioned, we asked both times.
why don't u ask what they'd like u 2 do, if ur willing to do either.

oh my sister in law doesn't care she happy the way I come even if it's one thing throughout. as long as I'm there!!

I personally like the elegance of a gown for the whole thing ... then again ... I know nothing of the UK ... but I do fancy their accents Wink

I wore the same gown for the whole thing. even though everyone changed. I just dont get them. because the pictures are right after the chuppah. and they are all wearing suits. and the fanceri stuff is worn at night... and the kallah and her family wore the same thing throughout. so why did us aunts have to change. I dont get the whole deal... but u cant change a brit way of thinking....

right but you do change once you live in isreale or any other country, they say it rubs off.
